1 Year, 2 months and 25 days since
our celebration.

According to family stories our history begins with a young man named William “Billy” Guy who was born in Virginia in 1826. Rumor has it that Billy had another family that he was sold away from and brought to Alabama. In 1862 (according to the 1900 census) he married Peggy Long. William and Peggy first appear in the 1870 Sumter County Alabama Census with 6 of their children: Bettie, Billie, Leah, Henry, Isaah, and John. Information obtained from the 1880 to 1900 census show that 6 other children were born to this union: Mary, Robert, Susan, Annie, Jane and Lucey for a total of 12 children!

We are the descendants of Robert Guy (the eighth child of William and Peggy) and Laura Dunning. Hence the name Guy-Dunning. Although this is the Guy-Dunning Reunion we welcome ALL descendants of William “Billy” Guy!

Robert was the 8th child (out of 12) of William and Peggy Guy. Robert was born on January 18, 1876 in Sumter County, Alabama. Robert married Laura Dunning in 1899/1900. To this union 12 children were born: Mamie, Adell, Samuel, Willie, Roosevelt, Rosie, Susie, Brookie, Elizabeth, Sadie, James and Lucy.
